At Oktaplex.de, your specialist retailer for LED lamps and sensors, we attach great importance to sustainability and environmental protection. We would therefore like to inform you about your rights and obligations when disposing of old devices and batteries. This is done in accordance with the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG) as well as that Battery Act (BattG).
Why is correct disposal important?
Electrical and electronic devices contain harmful substances that can endanger both the environment and health. At the same time, they contain valuable resources that can be recycled through proper disposal. For this reason, old electrical devices and batteries must not be disposed of with household waste.

Obligation to return old electrical devices
In accordance with the requirements of the ElektroG, you are obliged to dispose of your old devices, including lights and LED lamps, properly. The following options are available to you:
Return to a collection or return point
- Old devices can be dropped off free of charge at an approved collection point or recycling center.
- The devices are checked there to ensure possible reuse or resource-saving recycling.
Return when purchasing a new device
- If you buy a new electrical or electronic device from us, you can Old device of the same type of device with similar functions return free of charge.
- When you deliver the old device to your private household, you can hand it over directly to the transport company.
Return of small devices without purchasing a new device
- Old devices that are not larger than 25 cm in any external dimension can also be returned free of charge, regardless of the purchase of a new device.

Return of batteries and accumulators
According to the Battery Act, batteries and accumulators may not be disposed of with household waste. Instead, you can return them to municipal collection points or to us. Make sure to remove easily removable batteries and accumulators from the devices before disposal.
The following battery types and lamps are allowed not disposed of in household waste:
- LED lamps
- Batteries and accumulators
- Compact fluorescent lamps (energy-saving lamps)
- fluorescent tubes
Exception:
Incandescent lamps and halogen lamps may be disposed of with household waste. If you are unsure what type it is, we recommend handing it over at a suitable collection point.

Data protection when disposing of old devices
Please note that you must delete all personal data yourself before disposing of old devices. This particularly affects data on smart devices such as sensors with app functionality.
Correct handling of defective energy-saving lamps
If energy-saving lamps contain mercury, you should take the following measures if they break:
- Pick up fragments with a damp cloth.
- Seal airtight in a jar or plastic bag.
- Take to the pollutant collection point.
- Ventilate the room for 20-30 minutes.
